Thinking about stepping up your online business and enrolling in the elusive Amazon Brand Registry? Getting brand-registered on the biggest e-commerce platform is usually the first goal of many online sellers. Needless to say, it sure has promising perks, especially for up-and-coming small businesses. If you want to learn how to get brand-registered on Amazon fast, then keep reading on amazon ppc agency

As Amazon continues to dominate the B2C marketplace, more and more third-party sellers hop on the giant e-Commerce platform in hopes of establishing their own businesses. Taking your business on Amazon gives you a spectrum of great opportunities to grow your brand. However, the sweet perks of selling on Amazon also come with their downsides.

Why You Should Opt for Amazon Brand Registry

While healthy competition is good, some fraudulent parties and unethical competitors tend to come along to make an easy profit or disrupt your business.

It goes without saying that protecting your brand from hijackers and fraudulent parties needs to be one of your biggest priorities. Without Brand Registry, third-party sellers can easily hijack your account by doing all sorts of stuff from changing the name of your products to using your brand name to sell their low-quality items, including a myriad of other things that could negatively affect your overall performance as a seller. Along with the other great benefits of the program, Amazon Brand Registry should be taken seriously.

Can I join Amazon Brand Registry Program without a Registered Trademark?

The short answer is yes. Not every seller has the eligibility to join, and the process could take them months before getting approved. If you’re new on Amazon, chances are you might also be having a hard time getting into the brand registry program. And on top of that, you’re also getting a huge headache for constantly dealing with hijackers who sell sub-standard and/or counterfeit products under your listing, often at a lower price. When this happens, you could lose the buy box, lose control of your listing, and get stuck with negative reviews.

But here’s some great news for you!

Brand owners can now join Amazon’s brand registry without waiting several months to get approved for a trademark. This is especially beneficial if you’re selling under a private label i.e., putting your own brand and logo on every single unit of your products.

When Amazon launched Brand Registry in 2017, it became a whole lot easier for third-party sellers and small-scale businesses to grow their business on the platform. To join the Brand Registry program, sellers must first have an actively registered trademark. However, the whole process of getting trademarked is very tedious and time-consuming. Traditionally in the US, acquiring a registered trademark alone can take anywhere from 9 to 12 months. But these days, Amazon is making it more convenient for sellers to hop on the brand registry program and start getting their brands protected without waiting that long. All thanks to Amazon’s new IP Accelerator service.

What is Amazon IP Accelerator?

Amazon IP Accelerator is a program that allows sellers to get access to Amazon’s Brand Registry and Enhanced Brand Content (A+ Content) in 2 weeks, without having to wait the usual 9-12 months of applying through traditional trademark methods.

In October of 2019, Amazon disclosed 11 of their vetted law firms that offer top-notch trademark registration services to help sellers obtain intellectual property (IP) rights and trademark protection faster. And finally, in November of 2019, Amazon launched the IP Accelerator. With this network of well-curated IP Law firms, small to medium scale businesses now have the opportunity to legally safeguard their brands at a more affordable price.

How it Works:

Upon filing your trademark application by one of the law firms from Amazon, your brand can legally remain protected for a duration of months (or years) before your trademark registration is officially issued.

Ready to Sign Up for IP Accelerator? Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Go to https://brandservices.amazon.com/ipaccelerator

Step 2: Click on the ‘Get Started’.

Step 3: Choose the country you’re in, where you want to sell, and the IP Accelerator service.

Step 4: Choose one option from the list of law firms. This is where you can learn more about the Amazon-approved law firms. Click on any law firm to see their ratings and read their reviews. You can also get in touch with one of their lawyers directly.

Step 5: Click on the yellow button that says “Contact Provider,” you’ll be prompted to answer a couple of questions and submit your request for services.

Step 6: Fill out their questionnaire. In the questionnaire, you will be answering basic questions about your business, the mark you want to register, etc.

Step 7: After submitting your request, you should receive an email from the provider with detailed instructions on how to proceed in the next couple of days.

How much are the fees?

IP Accelerator is a free program by Amazon so they do not charge a fee to connect you with law firms. However, when you select a firm and start working with them, you will be paying the law firm directly.

Depending on your case, here are some of the fees to be expected:

  • $600 initial fee for filing your trademark application
  • $350 for the USPTO government fees

So you’re looking at paying around $950 to get a trademark and quick access to the Brand Registry program.

After making the payment and signing the engagement letter agreement, the firm will proceed to file your trademark application. In most cases, usually within the same day, Amazon will receive the serial number of your pending application.

In about two weeks or so, you should receive an invitation from Amazon to enroll in Brand Registry.

Final Thoughts:

One of the best perks of joining the program is that you can get “accelerated access” to the Brand Protection Program in Amazon’s stores. But does the IP accelerator make trademark registration a lot quicker? Not really. However, as the name goes, IP Accelerator does speed up the process (and lessens the hassle) of enrolling in Brand Registry.

While there are certainly less expensive methods in getting your trademark, Amazon’s IP Accelerator will undoubtedly save you time. If you’re looking into scaling your business and driving your sales while protecting your brand, IP Accelerator is definitely worth trying. Along with the other benefits of the service, signing up for the IP Accelerator allows you to gain access to the Brand Registry Program quicker and to get your trademark without all the fuss.
