The Ultimate Launch, Rank & Profit Playbook for Supplements & CPG Brands
Riley Bennett
If you sell Subscribe & Save products (supplements, beauty, pet, CPG), this end-to-end playbook will help you rank faster, rank higher, and grow profitably—whether you’re pre-launch, newly launched, or established and looking to scale margins.
You can hand this to your team. It’s organized around the six pillars of Amazon growth, with clear actions, tools, and cautions to avoid the classic (expensive) mistakes.

This Will Cover Everything You Need to Know as a Business Owner
Reviews (start here)
CRO / Creative (conversion-first foundation)
SEO (organic ranking & keyword coverage)
PPC (structure, budget, and video ads)
Pricing & Coupons (incl. Subscribe & Save)
External Traffic (when & how to add fuel)
Pillar 1: Get Reviews Fast
Mission: 30 reviews in the first 30 days → 100 → 1,000+ while maintaining ≥4.0★ (ideally 4.3★+, which renders as 4.5 visually).
Why it matters
Sub-4.0 products struggle to convert and rank.
Psychological lift at 100 and again around 1,000 reviews.
Strong early velocity + social proof = better honeymoon momentum.
Playbook
Amazon Vine (Pre-Launch):
Enroll up to 30 units before the listing goes public. Wait for ~10 reviews to post, then set the start date for tomorrow and launch with social proof.
Request Review Automation:
Turn on the official “Request a Review” via a tool like Helium 10 to systematically boost review rate over time.
(Optional) Product Testers:
Product-tester communities can accelerate feedback volume. This is gray-area—read TOS carefully and proceed at your own risk. Space activity (e.g., 10–15 tests/mo) to avoid spikes that trigger automated audits.
Insert Card + Survey Flow (Advanced):
Use a QR code to capture feedback and email, then optionally nudge shoppers to share that feedback on Amazon (voluntary). This can increase review rate and build your owned list. Again: gray-area—review TOS, proceed thoughtfully.
Love-Letter” & Video Reviews
Proactively capture deep, story-driven testimonials (Zoom mini-interviews work well). These pieces often sell better than any feature list.

Targets to watch
30 reviews / 30 days (launch)
Maintain ≥4.0★ (ideally 4.3★+)
March to 100, then 1,000+ reviews
Pillar 2: CRO (Conversion Rate Optimization)
Sales = Traffic × Conversion.
Don’t pour ad dollars into a leaky page.
Foundations of a High-Converting Listing
Product quality → Branding → Listing → Photography/UGC → USP-based messaging → Video → Premium A+.
USP & “Us vs. Them” positioning:
Amazon is a comparison marketplace. Your job: explain why you’re the best option (not why the category matters—they already searched it).
Main Image (treat like a YouTube thumbnail):
• 3-second rule • Stand out from page-one sameness • Enlarge crucial details (size/dose/qty) • Test continuously
Gallery Images:
One idea per image, show > tell, make it idiot-simple. Include a comparison chart (blur competitor logos) so shoppers can decide fast.
Premium A+:
Unlock and use video modules, shoppable images, and a clickable comparison. Build a mobile-optimized version.
Video Stack (4x Method):
Explainer/brand spot (30–60s)
UGC/testimonials
Long-form deep dive (“meet the product”)
Ad creatives (optimized separately—see PPC)
Rule of thumb: Invest real dollars in conversion. Cheap creative is the most expensive mistake on Amazon.

This image shows the foundations of Amazon CRO.
Pillar 3: SEO (Organic Rank)
Amazon is a search engine. The business is won in the top-20 (ideally top-10, best: top-5) for your money terms.
What moves rank
Conversion rate × 180-day sales velocity (plus relevance).
Honeymoon phase: your early window to prove conversion and velocity.
Playbook
Keyword coverage:
Front end (title, bullets) + back end (attributes, generic keywords). Not rocket science—just thorough and correct.
Track rankings:
Monitor organic positions for core terms (e.g., via Helium 10). If you’re not surfacing top-20 on anything important, you know why sales lag.
Let pillars compound:
Reviews + CRO + Price/Coupons + PPC + (optional) External = SEO lifts.

Pillar 4: PPC (Advertising)
You need ads. But structure and creative quality determine whether ads build rank or burn cash.
Quick Start
Budget: Start at $100/day to gather signal, then scale or trim based on results.
At the EOD: Have an Amazon PPC specialist run the account. Founders should focus on product, pipeline, partnerships.

The Secret Sauce: Video Ads (SBV)
The “Billboard Method”
I think of SBV ads like a moving billboard.
Thumbnail frame: Amazon often picks a frame near ~5s—design that moment.
First 3 seconds: Hook + USP in giant text; assume silent autoplay; add captions.
Avoid using your plain main image; the main image is already on the SERP.
Test 3–5 variants, keep the winner, iterate.
Reality: Great SBV can meaningfully lift CTR and sales—sometimes dramatically.
At the EOD: Use my plug-n-play Canva templates (amazingmarketingco.com/products)
Pillar 5: Pricing & Subscribe & Save
Pricing is a critical ranking lever—especially during honeymoon.
Launch Logic
Start with a promotional stance to drive velocity.
For consumables, Subscribe & Save (S&S) + S&S Coupon is your superpower.
Common play: 30–40% off first S&S order to spike trial and subs.
Ongoing Framework
Monitor rank, inventory, and CAC/payback.
Step pricing/coupons down gradually as position stabilizes.
Coordinate price and ad spend like two dials:
• Need velocity? Lower price / richer coupon + raise spend.
• Risking stockout? Raise price + trim spend.

Pillar 6: External Traffic
In competitive niches, you may need extra firepower.
Options
Free: Email list + social audience (stagger sends across 30 days).
Paid: Influencers, Google/Meta ads, rebates/giveaways platforms.
Giveaways/Rebates:
Can spike conversion and velocity to climb rankings. This is gray-area—many sellers use it; read TOS, proceed at your own risk, and ramp down gradually to avoid sudden drop-offs that spook the algorithm.
