The Ultimate Amazon Launch & Profit Playbook
Riley Bennett
The most important thing when it comes to launching your brand on Amazon is making sure you get reviews fast. But reviews are only one part of the equation.
You also need to nail conversion rate optimization (CRO), pricing and coupon strategy, Amazon ads (especially video), SEO, and—when necessary—external traffic. If you skip one, you’ll bleed ad spend and fail to compete in today’s Amazon marketplace.
In this playbook, I’ll walk you through all six pillars of a successful Amazon launch with the tools, tactics, and strategies you need.
Pillar 1: CRO (Conversion Rate Optimization)
CRO is the foundation of everything. Too many brands spend $50K/year on ads but only $500–$1,000 on listing optimization. That math doesn’t make sense.
Sales = Traffic × Conversion.
Both sides matter equally.
Your Amazon page must be 10/10 optimized. That means:
Million-dollar branding: professional photo shoot, premium A+, strong messaging.
Comparison-focused copy: Amazon is “find the right one,” not “browse for options.” Your pitch should say, “Here’s why we are the best,” not “Here’s why you need this category.”
Main image & gallery: one clear idea per image, idiot-proof design, 3-second rule, show > tell.
Pro Tip: Either invest in an expert listing rebuild or outsource to a specialist. Cheap Fiverr pages waste millions of ad impressions over time.

Pillar 2: Reviews
The goal: 30 reviews in your first 30 days.
Step 1: Enroll in Amazon Vine (now available pre-launch). Wait for ~10 reviews, then set your start date. You’ll launch with credibility instead of zero reviews.
Optional: FBAReviews.com if you have extra inventory and budget (gray area; proceed carefully).
Ongoing:
Turn on Request Review automation in Helium 10.
Use insert cards with QR codes.
Test GetReviews.ai to funnel feedback → reviews.
GetReviews.ai is a tool optimized for collecting reviews and emails via insert cards.

Pillar 3: Pricing & Subscribe & Save
Pricing strategy can make or break a launch. Always start with a promotion.
Best lever for consumables: Subscribe & Save coupons.
Example: 40% off first order to drive opt-ins.
Important: Customers only keep the discount if they maintain at least two shipments. If they cancel after one, Amazon charges them back.
Framework:
Launch with aggressive coupon (30–40%).
Step down gradually (30% → 20%) as you gain traction.
Adjust based on inventory, rankings, and ad performance.

Pillar 4: PPC (Amazon Ads)
There’s no universal “right budget,” but a good starting point is $100/day.
Expect to test and adjust. Ads may burn budget fast, or under-spend.
Hire an Amazon PPC expert. As a founder, your time is better spent on R&D, product development, and business growth—not micromanaging bid strategies.

Video ads are the cheat code most brands ignore.
Use my “Moving Billboard” framework:
Left: close-up product shot or UGC clip.
Right: big bold headline with your keyword/USP.
Add captions (silent autoplay).
Keep videos 6–15 seconds.
Design the 5-second thumbnail frame (Amazon auto-selects it).
Proven formula → more clicks, stronger CTR, higher conversions. I’ve personally seen a great video ad double sales overnight.
Pillar 5: SEO (Organic Ranking)
Amazon is a search engine. The goal is top-20 organic rank for your money keywords.
Rank factors = conversion rate × 180-day sales velocity.
Tips:
Leverage the honeymoon phase: optimize early, don’t waste the initial ranking boost.
Ensure front-end & back-end keyword coverage.
Track organic ranking with Helium 10.
Pillar 6: External Traffic
Optional, but powerful in competitive niches (supplements, beauty, CPG).
Free traffic: email lists, social media announcements.
Paid traffic: rebates, giveaways, influencers, Google/Facebook ads.
Rebate.com is a common tool:
Shoppers buy at full price.
Seller reimburses via rebate after 30 days.
Creates sales velocity + ranking lift.
⚠️ Gray area: not officially TOS-safe. Use with caution.
