“Hey Riley! What’s the deal with Amazon Brand Registry!?”
Hey guys! So getting your brand officially ‘registered’ with Amazon has been a part of the Amazon selling process for a while now. This post will explain everything you need to know and the registration options – including the new hack to get approved in just 2 weeks instead of 6 months!
Amazon requires you to get your brand officially registered to get some important features, most importantly, A+ content on your listing, and a video in your gallery.
To sign up, basically, you just need a trademarked brand name, which takes 6-9 months to get approved for in the US (Update: or use the IP Accelerator to get approved in 2 weeks).
What you Get from Amazon
- A+ Content (more images & text)

- A brand storefront (amazon.com/yourbrand)

UK Trademark DIY option: Get approved in 4 Months

Your brand name trademark can be registered in any of these major countries.
How to get videos on your listing before being Brand Registered
Note on video on your listing: In the meantime, you can upload a video in the ‘Videos’ section, above the reviews section. Just click ‘Upload Your Video’ and upload your product video!
How to create a Brand Website
I use Shopify for my brand site and so do most online sellers because it’s the top eCommerce website platform and the easiest to use. Just add the basics for a 1-page site. It’s only $29/mo. You should have a basic website anyway for shoppers to verify that you’re a legit company.
- Go to Shopify.com and sign up
- Choose a domain name with Shopify (easiest option)
- Choose a simple free template that you like
- Upload
- Brand logo
- Product photos
- About/Contact Us section/page
- Upload
- You can keep it as a simple 1-page site for BR approval.
- Quick note: When you create the Product pages, make it clear that the product is available exclusively on Amazon and include a clear link to go Buy On Amazon. (Make sure inside Shopify the product is out of stock / not available – until down the line when you want to take orders thru your site).
Summary
Overall, Brand Registry is a necessary part of selling on Amazon. If I were to create a new brand right now, I’d totally pay the $875 for the IP Accelerator program and get approved in 2 weeks! Being able to have a video in your gallery and A+ content on your listing has shown to increase CVR by at least a few % so it will pay for itself with the extra sales!
